Billing Specialist

AFC Urgent Care Clinics is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Billing Specialist to join our Revenue Cycle team at our headquarters in Tigard, Oregon. This entry- to mid-level billing position is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in medical billing, including Workers' Compensation (WCOMP) experience, denial management, insurance eligibility, payment posting, patient inquiries, and account receivable collections. The role supports day-to-day billing operations, ensuring timely follow-up on claims, accurate payment posting, and excellent service to patients and internal teams.

The position is on-site at Tigard, OR headquarters, with potential for hybrid work arrangements in the future.

Key responsibilities include managing Workers' Compensation billing and accounts receivable, following up with adjusters and payers, researching and appealing denied claims, posting insurance payments and patient payments accurately, responding to patient billing inquiries, verifying insurance eligibility, monitoring claim status, printing and mailing claims and statements, and assisting with administrative billing tasks.

Qualifications require 2–5 years of medical billing experience preferably in urgent care or outpatient settings, experience with Workers' Compensation billing and denial management, proficiency with payment posting and insurance portals, strong knowledge of billing processes and payer guidelines, excellent communication skills, and high attention to detail. Familiarity with urgent care CPT and ICD-10 codes and multi-state payer environments is preferred. High school diploma or equivalent is required; relevant work experience is valued over formal credentials.

Compensation ranges from $22 to $25 per hour, commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and employee discounts.

The role is full-time, Monday through Friday during standard business hours, primarily sedentary with computer use and phone communication.
