Patient Accounting Specialist - Financial Assistance

INTEGRIS HEALTH, Oklahoma’s largest not-for-profit health system, is seeking a Patient Accounting Specialist in Oklahoma City, OK. This day shift position (8-5pm) involves working with a team dedicated to providing exceptional care, reflecting the mission of partnering with people to live healthier lives.

The Patient Accounting Specialist II role focuses on facilitating accurate claim submissions in compliance with payer regulations to ensure timely reimbursement from third-party payers and patients. Responsibilities include reviewing and resolving issues related to medical codes and claim elements, handling correspondence such as EOBs and payer audits, analyzing payment rates and claim processing accuracy, providing feedback on revenue opportunities, managing payment files and balances, direct communication with payers to resolve payment issues, maintaining accurate account information, and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.

This role also involves participating in performance improvement efforts related to collections and billing compliance, supporting patients visiting the accounting office, and requires collaboration with management and other healthcare departments.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years experience in insurance, billing, collections, denial or related business environment
  • Preferred experience in 2 or more healthcare areas such as billing, collections, or registration
  • 2 years college education preferred
  • Preferred healthcare certifications: CRCR, CRCS, CHAA
  • Experience using Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, third-party reimbursement rules, and EOB interpretation preferred
  • Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT-4 coding, UB04 and CMS 1500 claim billing and reimbursement preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulations
