Southwoods Health is seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our billing department at the Southwoods Executive Centre.
The successful candidate will be responsible for submitting claims to third-party payers, resolving daily edits within our EMR and clearinghouse systems, and managing professional correspondence regarding billing inquiries.
Key responsibilities include:
- Resolve daily edits through the EMR or clearinghouse to produce clean claims; submit secondary claims ensuring primary payment information is accurately captured.
- Identify and gather necessary supporting documentation required by insurance carriers; ensure all attachments are included with original claim submissions.
- Process account checks daily within the EMR and verify accuracy of all insurance information.
- Maintain strict adherence to billing compliance regulations, patient confidentiality laws (HIPAA), and regulatory agency standards (OSHA, ODH, BOP, TJC).
- Collaborate with Coding and Collection Specialists to correct claims and report billing errors or needed policy changes to the supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned to maintain the financial health of the practice.
Qualifications:
- Completed training or coursework in business office activities, computer skills, and medical terminology.
- Two or more years of experience in medical billing or collections preferred.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities; proficiency in EMR systems (e.g., MEDITECH) and clearinghouse software.
- Professional demeanor with strong ethical and moral principles.
Schedule:
- Full-time, Monday–Friday, day shift with flexible 8-hour shifts within business hours of 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
