We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Orthopedic Billing Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. You will manage the complete billing process for orthopedic services, ensuring accurate coding, timely claims submission, and effective follow-up on unpaid accounts. This role contributes to revenue cycle management, improving cash flow and supporting exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities include reviewing and interpreting medical documentation to assign appropriate CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes for orthopedic procedures and diagnoses; ensuring accurate DRG assignments; preparing and submitting insurance claims electronically using EMR and EHR systems; following up on unpaid or denied claims; maintaining detailed medical records and billing documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations; collaborating with medical office staff; staying updated on medical coding standards and billing regulations; and assisting in resolving billing discrepancies and managing collections.
Qualifications include proven medical billing experience preferably in orthopedic or specialized medical settings; strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding standards including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG; familiarity with Athena EMR and EHR systems; understanding of medical collection procedures and patient account management; ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately; excellent attention to detail and organizational skills; and preferred but not required prior medical office operations experience.
Language: Spanish preferred.
