RCM Billing Specialist

Dena Frawley Consultants, LLC provides insurance billing services to specialty healthcare practices. They are seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join the revenue cycle management (RCM) team focusing on chiropractic and physical therapy billing services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Utilizing various systems to process medical billing and collections
  • Reviewing and analyzing medical remittances for accurate payment
  • Updating account balances and entering insurance and financial data into patient accounts
  • Calling insurance carriers to verify patient benefits and claim information
  • Requesting treatment authorizations from insurance companies
  • Resolving unpaid claims through insurance appeals
  • Collaborating with team members on special projects
  • Ensuring compliance with HIPAA, ICD-10, and other coding standards

Skills and qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and consistent work performance
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/365
  • Strong data entry and computer skills
  • Familiarity with medical billing software, ICD-10 coding standards, medical terminology, insurance websites, and internet databases
  • Prior experience in medical billing, coding, and collections preferred
  • Chiropractic and physical therapy billing experience is a plus but not required

Work setting:

  • Part-time or contract position, with possibility to become full-time
  • Hybrid remote work based in Milford, Connecticut with occasional in-person meetings in New Haven and Fairfield counties

Compensation:

  • $17 - $20 per hour
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Prior experience in medical billing, coding, and collections
  • Proficiency with medical billing software and ICD-10 coding
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
  • Experience with insurance verification and claims processing
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Professional phone etiquette
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
