The Center for Eye Care and Optical is a well-established, patient-focused ophthalmology practice serving the South Shore of Long Island. They are looking for an experienced Medical Billing & Insurance Specialist to join their administrative team.
Responsibilities include medical billing and insurance follow-up (A/R collections), insurance verification and eligibility checks, prior authorizations for medical and surgical services, claims submission, tracking and resolution of denials, credentialing support, payment posting and account reconciliation, communication with insurance carriers and internal staff, and maintaining accuracy and compliance with payer requirements.
Required qualifications: previous experience in medical billing and insurance follow-up, strong understanding of insurance verification and prior authorizations, excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, ability to work independently and in a team, professional communication skills.
Preferred qualifications: experience in ophthalmology or specialty medical practices, familiarity with Nextech / Practice Plus or similar EMR systems, experience with credentialing processes.
Schedule: Full-time, in-office, Monday–Friday, no evenings or weekends.
