Medical Billing Specialist

We are a specialty medical clinic looking for an experienced medical billing and collections specialist to work part time (15-20 hours) out of our offices in Framingham, MA to do all aspects of billing for our 1 physician office. Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) is helpful.

Education or Certification:

• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree a plus
• Medical Billing or Coding Certification a plus (Certified Medical Billing Specialist, Certified Medical Coder, or similar)
• High School Diploma or GED required

Experience and Skills:

• Significant medical billing experience required
• Familiarity with medical coding and procedures
• Strong knowledge of medical insurance
• EClinicalWorks knowledge
• Bilingual (Spanish/Portuguese) a plus
• Proficiency with Excel a strong plus

Responsibilities:

• Manage all insurance claims for one physician
• Submit insurance claims for visits and procedures
• Issue billing statements to patients as necessary
• Work with insurance companies to monitor claim status, pursue and dispute denials, elevate claims to appeals, and resolve open claims
• Explain patient account history and financial policies
• Maintain accounts receivable aging reports and resolve balances
• Communicate with patients about pre-payments, open balances, and past-due accounts
• Issue regular reports on accounts receivable and billing performance
• Support office managers in enforcing front desk, treatment plan, and in-office financial policies
• Assist in other billing and credentialing matters as needed
