Our group practice is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist. This is an opportunity to join our growing Billing team and to capitalize on and expand your medical billing skillset with a goal of independently managing individually assigned scope of work. Ideal candidate should have strong sense of teamwork, ability to multitask and effectively manage priorities as well as to communicate effectively and courteously with others.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Review and submit medical claims to insurance companies
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for patients
- Submit requests for prior authorizations when needed
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials
- Post patient payments, electronic remits, and paper explanation of benefits (EOBs)
- Resolve billing discrepancies and appeal denied claims
- Answer phone calls from patients and external parties, investigate and respond to all patient and insurance inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness in documentation
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Billing experience
- Workable knowledge of medical billing including CPT and ICD-10 coding, medical terminology
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details
- Ability to interact with patients, insurance companies and others in a clear, positive, and professional manner
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, Internet. Able to type 40 wpm. 10-key
- Ability to operate a variety of standard office machines, including a personal computer and a variety of software programs
Work Schedule: 5/8 or 4/10 schedule during work week Mon-Fri, 40 hours per week. After successfully completing a training period in our Anchorage office, there may be an opportunity to work out of our Wasilla office.
Compensation: DOE
Pay: From $24.00 per hour
