Centralized Insurance Specialist - Ophthalmology

Coastal Eye Group, a leader in comprehensive eye care services, is seeking a detail-oriented Centralized Insurance Specialist to join their ophthalmology administrative team.

The role involves managing insurance billing and claims processing, including verifying coverage, submitting claims, following up on denials, and communicating with insurance companies and patients. The specialist will maintain detailed records, audit accounts in PM & EHR systems, manage AR, denials, appeals, oversee payments, and stay current on insurance regulations relevant to ophthalmology.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, strong knowledge of medical billing software and EHR systems, familiarity with ophthalmology-specific CPT and ICD-10 codes preferred, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.

This is a full-time, in-person role based in Little River, SC. The position offers competitive hourly pay from $15.00 to $23.00 (hourly salary not converted to annual), and benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with matching, paid time off, and a collaborative work environment.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of medical billing software and EHR systems
  • Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 codes specific to ophthalmology preferred
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Preferred: 1 year insurance verification experience
  • Preferred: 1 year medical billing experience
