The Research Billing Coordinator manages billing functions for the START clinical research program ensuring accurate invoicing, proper charge allocation, and compliance with study protocols and insurance requirements.
Responsibilities include collaborating with Regulatory team quarterly to review invoicing items, processing daily invoice communications, maintaining invoiced charge records, reviewing Clinical Research Coordinators' documentation, analyzing study contracts for billable items, invoicing sponsors for patient-related services per contract terms, verifying insurance charges include study identifiers, reconciling sponsor payments and AR records, tracking monthly and annual accounts receivable, submitting external vendor invoice check requests, creating tracking spreadsheets for new studies, working with Utah Cancer Billing Team to resolve claim denials, reviewing billing system procedures with Medicare Coverage Analysis, ensuring proper billing of standard-of-care procedures to insurance, and performing duties as assigned by the Director of Research.
The role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, excellent communication, ability to manage multiple priorities, proficiency with MS Excel and Word, ability to analyze data and identify discrepancies, and preferably prior medical billing/accounting experience.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication. Self-motivated with multi-tasking abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience in medical billing or accounting preferred.
