Billing Specialist

Central Minnesota Mental Health Center

The Billing Specialist is responsible for submitting accurate insurance claims (Medicare, Medicaid, private), posting payments, and resolving denials to ensure timely reimbursement. Acts as a liaison between patients, providers, and payers, updates patient records, and sets up payment plans.

Responsibilities include preparing and submitting claims to insurance carriers and self-pay clients, processing payments, reconciling accounts, following up on unpaid claims, appealing denied claims, verifying insurance eligibility and benefits, obtaining pre-authorizations, setting up payment arrangements, and maintaining accurate client demographic and insurance information in electronic health records (EHR).

Schedule: Monday to Friday, Day Shift hours.

Location: In-person at Waite Park Office (411 3rd St N, Waite Park, MN 56387).

Requirements & Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required. DHS Background Study Clearance, Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record. Preferred: Associate's degree in healthcare administration, business, accounting, or related field. Preferred: 2+ years experience in healthcare billing, medical office operations, or behavioral health. Experience with insurance claims, prior authorizations, or electronic health records (EHR) preferred.
