The role involves corresponding with insurance carriers regarding aged and unpaid claims to secure and expedite payments through proactive follow-up and appeals resolution.
You will contact insurance companies to check statuses of unpaid or denied accounts and prepare formal insurance appeals. Accurate documentation of all contacts and supporting documents for claim resolution is essential. You will investigate insurance credit balances, research policy updates, and report billing errors or procedural issues to supervisors for correction. Compliance with regulatory bodies including OSHA, ODH, BOP, and TJC is required. Additional revenue cycle support tasks may be assigned.
Candidates should have training or coursework in business office activities, computer skills, and medical terminology. Comprehensive knowledge of revenue cycle operations and claim resolution measures is needed, as well as proficiency with online insurance portals, strong problem-solving, and communication skills. Professional billing or collections certification is preferred. Professionalism and ethical conduct are important.
