Highlander Dermatology LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to manage revenue cycle management (RCM) processes. Responsibilities include reviewing patient charts for accurate CPT and ICD-10 coding for medical and cosmetic procedures, preparing and submitting electronic and paper claims to insurance providers including Medicare, Medicaid, and private payers, verifying insurance eligibility and obtaining pre-authorizations, managing denial research and appeals, posting payments and reconciling accounts receivable, navigating electronic insurance portals to track claims and update credentials, and communicating with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment plans.
Approximate working hours are Monday through Thursday 8 AM to 5 PM, and Friday 8 AM to 12 PM. This position is on-site in Brookfield, WI.
Preferred qualifications include 1-2 years of medical billing experience, ideally in a dermatology or surgical setting, proficiency with EMR and practice management software (experience with Modernizing Medicine is a a plus), thorough knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, and complex reimbursement procedures, and a positive, growth-oriented attitude.
