The Billing/Collections Representative processes claims, ensures accurate billing, and follows up on outstanding accounts. This role requires knowledge of healthcare billing procedures and collections practices. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and communicates effectively with insurance companies and patients.
Responsibilities include submitting and following up on claims to insurance carriers, government payers, and third parties; reviewing and resolving denied or rejected claims; performing collection activities on overdue accounts; monitoring accounts receivable; maintaining accurate billing and collection records; collaborating internally to resolve discrepancies; ensuring HIPAA compliance; and responding to billing inquiries from patients and insurance providers.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in healthcare billing and/or collections
- Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 codes, and insurance processes
- Experience with billing software (dialysis billing knowledge is a plus)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Bilingual a plus (not required)
