The Patient Accounting Representative III at The University of Kansas Health System is responsible for accurate and timely actions on patient financial accounts within the Patient Financial Services department. The role includes coordinating team workload, training staff, acting as an Epic super user, handling research related charges and billing according to CMS guidelines, invoicing study billable services, assisting study teams with invoice accuracy, and following up on outstanding billing and insurance claims. The position involves posting payments, refunds, adjustments, resolving EOB discrepancies, managing denials and insurance inquiries, and providing compassionate patient call support including de-escalation and issue resolution. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with collection agencies, negotiating settlements, preparing audit trails, and ensuring compliance with departmental policies. This full-time position may require filling in for other departmental needs and performing various administrative duties as assigned.
- High School Graduate or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in payment posting, claims, denials, customer service, insurance processing, billing, or collections.
- Preferred: Associate's Degree in related field.
- Preferred: 4 or more years of Epic experience.
