Credit Balance Analyst

Post all payments to the practice management system. Process End of Day. Perform duties, processes and functions assigned by management.

Work remotely with a dedicated workspace, limited interruptions, and high-speed internet (25 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload).

  • Review credit balance reports for potential refunds to insurance companies and/or patients.
  • Transfer patient overpayment to existing patient balance if appropriate.
  • Research insurance company requests for refunds and dispute or submit as appropriate.
  • Process refund requests for charges with missing documentation.
  • Monitor unresolved accounts and submit refund requests for approval.
  • Manage insurance refund reports and overpaid claims in Athena timely.
  • Report to office location as needed.
  • Perform related responsibilities to support the Business Office success.

Candidates should be self-motivated, able to work independently, and detail-oriented with strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of insurance terminology, CCI/bundling issues, CPT, ICD-10, HCPC, Medicare, Medicaid, HMO, and commercial guidelines is required.

Maintain confidentiality of patient and personnel information. Proficient with Microsoft applications, practice management systems, and electronic health records. Good problem-solving skills necessary.

Requires sitting for long periods and handling office equipment. Must be able to work under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours to meet deadlines.

High school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of medical business office experience required.

Work hours: Monday-Friday.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year experience in medical business office.
  • Knowledge of insurance terminology, CCI/bundling issues, CPT, ICD-10, HCPC, Medicare, Medicaid, HMO, and commercial guidelines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft applications and electronic health records.
  • Detail-oriented with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable high-speed internet and dedicated workspace for remote work.
