- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies electronically or via paper submissions
- Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims through medical collection processes and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Maintain and update electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring all billing information is current and accurate
- Communicate with insurance providers, patients, and healthcare staff regarding billing inquiries and payment status
- Ensure compliance with medical coding standards, medical terminology, and healthcare regulations in all documentation
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in medical office administration or medical billing roles
- Strong knowledge of medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG, and related coding systems
- Familiarity with EMR and EHR systems
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology and medical records management
- Ability to interpret insurance policies and perform effective follow-up on outstanding claims
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple billing tasks efficiently
- Prior experience with medical collections and revenue cycle management is preferred
