The Medical Collector - Insurance AR is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement by working directly with insurance companies, government payers, and patients. This role focuses on resolving outstanding balances, managing insurance aging, and maintaining clear documentation to support revenue cycle operations.
Key responsibilities include managing assigned insurance aging reports, contacting insurance companies about past-due balances, researching and resolving denied or delayed claims, filing appeals, posting non-payments and adjustments, responding to patient billing inquiries, and documenting all communications thoroughly.
Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in healthcare collections or medical billing, knowledge of procedure and diagnosis coding, and preferably experience with Athenahealth medical billing system. Strong organizational, communication skills, and ability to handle confidential information in compliance with HIPAA are required.
This is an in-office position based in Fort Myers, FL.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
