The Chicago Center for Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery (doing business as Primus Orthopedics) is a comprehensive orthopedic and physical therapy practice with two locations, delivering exceptional care through a team-based approach.
The Billing Clerk will provide administrative and clerical support to the Billing Department to maintain smooth billing operations and accurate recordkeeping. The role does not involve direct billing of claims.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Billing Department with clerical and administrative tasks
- Preparing, organizing, and maintaining patient billing files and insurance medical records
- Tracking and logging billing-related correspondence
- Managing incoming mail, faxes, and electronic communications related to billing
- Supporting the billing team with data entry and reconciliation of account information
- Providing administrative support for audits, chart reviews, and compliance requests
- Managing outgoing mail to patients and insurance companies
- Basic tracking and reporting related to current patient accounts
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred
- Previous experience in a healthcare, medical billing, or clerical role; orthopedic practice experience is a plus
- Familiarity with billing documentation and HIPAA compliance
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with eClinicalWorks preferred
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
