Prairie Ridge Health seeks a Biller and Insurance Specialist to join their Business Services Department. This role serves as the primary liaison between patients and the organization for hospital and clinic billing, payments, and collections. Responsibilities include managing billing for patients and various health plans such as Medicare, Medicaid, military and veterans’ programs, Third Party Administrators, Worker’s Compensation, and commercial insurance lines. The specialist handles timely and accurate claims filing, follow-up, appeals, and re-submissions, ensures compliance with federal guidelines and contractual agreements, and analyzes insurance credit balances for accurate refunding.
Typical shift: Monday-Friday, day hours (full-time).
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience with paper and electronic billing for Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, commercial insurances, and workers compensation preferred.
- Knowledge of hospital and professional claim forms is strongly preferred.
- Experience with revenue codes, CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding strongly preferred.
- Medical terminology knowledge strongly preferred.
- Previous experience with health insurance, collection techniques, or patient registration preferred.
