Under the supervision of the CBO Collections Supervisor, the CBO Collections Specialist assists hospitals with maximizing collections and minimizing outstanding accounts receivable aging by performing collection functions. Responsibilities include monitoring outstanding accounts receivable, communicating with insurance carriers about unpaid claims, evaluating Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) for denials, and filing appeals to insurance payors. May work with Medicare, Medicaid, insurance carriers, Third Party Liability payors, or attorneys.
The role requires strong interpersonal skills, good judgment, flexibility, teamwork, multitasking ability, neat appearance, and stress management skills. The position involves sedentary work with some walking or standing for brief periods. Work environment includes no greater exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues than a visitor.
Education requires a high school diploma; some college preferred. Experience with third party payor policies, insurance EOBs, and healthcare settings is preferred. High computer skills are required.
This is a full-time, in-person position located in DeQuincy, LA.
