Our high-end dermatology practice is seeking a dual-role Dermatology Medical Biller and Medical Assistant. The primary responsibility is medical billing to optimize revenue cycle. The secondary responsibility is assisting with back-office clinical care as needed.
Key Billing Responsibilities:
- Review clinical documentation to assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, and modifier codes specific to dermatological and surgical interventions.
- Submit error-free electronic and paper claims to insurance payers and verify primary/secondary coverage.
- Monitor clearinghouse rejections, manage denials, post insurance and patient payments, and collect outstanding accounts receivable balances.
Key Clinical Responsibilities:
- Escort patients to exam rooms, document medical histories, and input accurate data into the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
- Prepare surgical trays, scribe detailed exam notes, and assist the dermatologist during biopsies, Mohs surgeries, and cosmetic procedures.
- Clean, sterilize, and organize medical instruments following strict infection control and safety standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program; professional billing or coding credentials (e.g., CPCD, CPC) highly preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in a dermatology or surgical medical practice.
- Experience with dermatological EMR and billing platforms such as EMA/Modernizing Medicine, AdvancedMD.
- Strong command of clinical dermatology terminology, wound care protocols, and insurance billing rules.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Hourly pay: $22.00 – $27.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and certifications.
