The Medical Records Specialist prepares daily charts for patients seen within the Advanced Thoracic Oncology Center. You will request and obtain documentation needed prior to clinic visits, including medical history, diagnostic images, and lab tests. Ensure that patient testing information is placed in the patient's chart for provider review. Work closely with providers and clinical team to assure data integrity and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
Assemble patient health information for each clinic visit, including medical history, exam results, X-ray reports, lab tests, diagnoses, and treatment plans. Verify that documents are accurately completed, indexed, properly identified, and signed. Ensure all necessary information is located in electronic or paper charts in proper chronological order.
Retrieve imaging for all radiology tests; communicate with physician or office manager when not available. Identify report availability for physician review and signature. Ensure all orders have been completed and results received before appointments, communicating with clinical specialists and Practice Coordinators as needed.
Assist in preparation, download, and routing of overnight oximetry reports, home sleep study data, and CPAP equipment data for provider review.
Prepare records accurately to ensure timely access by authorized persons. Monitor charts for additional work assignments. Organize and store records appropriately to establish easy access for clinical personnel.
Answer phones in a timely and courteous manner. Provide accurate information from callers and deliver to appropriate recipients.
Adhere to the release of patient information policies in compliance with HIPAA regulations, releasing protected health information efficiently to appropriate parties.
- 3-5 years of experience in Medical Office and Medical Records Management
