Compliance Specialist

Thrive Behavioral Health seeks a Compliance Specialist for its Rosedale Office to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations including Joint Commission accreditation and COMAR standards.

This role involves investigating, auditing, and reporting on clinical charts related to behavioral health and mental health disorders without providing direct patient care, focusing on children and adult populations.

Responsibilities include conducting internal compliance audits, supporting quality improvement efforts, developing and revising compliance policies, ensuring regulatory adherence including HIPAA, educating staff on compliance and coding updates, and supporting performance improvement measures.

The position requires collaboration with leadership, preparation of reports for management and regulatory bodies, attending licensing visits, and potentially covering for the Compliance Manager.

Candidates should have 1-5+ years experience in medical billing, coding, or auditing with strong knowledge of behavioral health CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding. Certifications like CPB or CPC are highly valued.

The role demands proficiency with Microsoft Office, effective communication skills, independent work ability, strong organizational skills, and commitment to upholding ethical standards.

Some evening work until approximately 7:30-8:00 pm may be required.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, health care administration, or related field; Master's preferred (experience may substitute education)
  • Minimum 3 years industry-related healthcare experience, with at least 1 year in healthcare corporate compliance preferred
  • 1-5+ years in medical billing, coding, or auditing
  • Strong understanding of behavioral health CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding
  • Certifications such as Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple demands
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred
  • Organized, flexible, self-motivated, detail-oriented
  • Ability to work some evenings until 7:30-8:00 pm
