Emergency Veterinarian

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Emergency Veterinarian to join our dynamic team at the first ever animal emergency and wellness center in the Hamptons. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency medicine and critical care, demonstrating excellent diagnostic, surgical, and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations. Work environment involves providing urgent medical and surgical care to various animal patients, supporting work-life balance.

Key responsibilities include providing high-quality emergency and critical care for urgent medical attention, diagnosing and treating trauma, toxicities, respiratory distress, shock, and other life-threatening conditions, performing emergency procedures and surgeries (wound management, C-sections, GDV corrections, splenectomies, fracture stabilization), utilizing diagnostic tools like radiology, ultrasound, in-house lab testing, and blood transfusion protocols. Collaboration with veterinary technicians, specialists, and support staff is essential to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Effective and compassionate communication with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatments, prognosis, and follow-up care is required. Maintaining accurate medical records and adherence to safety protocols completes the role.

Requirements include a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree from an accredited institution, active unrestricted veterinary license in New York, DEA license, minimum 3+ years emergency medicine experience, proficiency in emergency diagnostics, anesthesia, and surgical procedures, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, holidays.

Preferred qualifications include experience in an emergency/specialty veterinary hospital, board certification or residency training in emergency and critical care (DACVECC), familiarity with advanced imaging and specialized treatments (CT, CPR protocols).
