The TCVM Veterinarian is responsible for providing comprehensive and integrative medical care to animal patients by combining diagnostic capabilities of Western medicine with holistic treatment modalities of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). You will identify patterns of disharmony in the body and develop personalized treatment plans to improve patients' quality of life, particularly for chronic, geriatric, or complex conditions.
Responsibilities include conducting thorough physical exams and gathering detailed medical histories, performing TCVM diagnostics such as pulse taking and tongue observation, developing and implementing integrative treatment plans using acupuncture, herbal medicine, Tui-na massage, and food therapy. You will administer treatments like dry needle acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, or moxibustion and counsel owners on herbal prescriptions and dietary changes.
You will collaborate with veterinarians, physical therapists, and specialists for Western medical approaches when necessary, communicate compassionately with owners about diagnoses, treatment options, and at-home care. Educating clients on the philosophy of TCVM and collaborating on public relations, marketing, and education are additional duties.
Maintain accurate electronic medical records and adhere to all veterinary practice regulations and controlled substance rules.
Certification (or pending) in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) is required. Being a self-starter and team player is essential. Experience of 1+ years is a plus. Excellent client relations and interpersonal skills required. Ability to multitask effectively.
