OneOncology is a patient-centric, physician-driven, technology-powered oncology organization focused on improving care for patients living with cancer and other diseases.
The Medical Coding Specialist performs daily charge review for visits, diagnoses, radiation oncology, and surgeries to ensure accurate level and code assignment. This role is responsible for entering charges into the practice management system or EMR and may also audit documentation from physicians, nurse practitioners, and clinical oncology staff for correct coding of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifiers.
The position works closely with practice leadership and other coders to resolve complex coding issues, improve audit effectiveness, support education efforts, and strengthen coding and billing compliance processes.
High school diploma or GED required.
- Professional coding certification required
- CPC certification through AAPC preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of coding experience preferred
- 2 years of experience performing chart audits or assigning CPT and ICD-10 codes through documentation review in a physician practice or hospital environment required
- Knowledge of medical oncology, radiation, and surgery coding highly preferred
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, HCPCS coding, anatomy, and medical terminology
- Ability to prioritize work, manage time efficiently, and analyze data
- Ability to travel to satellite clinics and various sites throughout Middle Tennessee when necessary
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
