Coding Analyst, Centralized Coding Outpatient

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

The position analyzes medical records to obtain information needed for accurate sequencing and assignment of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT codes. It confirms appropriate DRG assignment, communicates with physicians to clarify documentation, abstracts and enters data for statistics and reporting, and supports the Business Office with timely billing of patient information.

Responsibilities include reviewing records for proper code assignment, abstracting clinical data, ensuring database integrity, reviewing unbilled and case mix reports, participating in quality reviews, clarifying coding and clinical issues with physicians and other coders, completing interim billing for select patients, and supporting quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

No specific minimum education is required; equivalent combination of education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skill, and ability needed for the role is acceptable.

Education equivalent to an associate degree may be considered.

A bachelor's degree in a directly related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
