The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Florida is hiring a Clinical Coder II. This role is responsible for charge entry for medical and dental procedures, coding CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS/ADA services, and queuing insurance claims.
The position works closely with faculty, fellows, and residents to provide coding education, improve documentation, support reimbursement, and help ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. The role also supports financial counseling coverage during staffing shortages and assists with related office responsibilities as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Three years of professional medical coding experience.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from AAPC or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS-P) required.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Knowledge of billing rules and regulations for private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid
- Experience with insurance billing
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments
- Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, and policies
- Ability to work independently and maintain effective working relationships
