Responsible for assigning diagnosis and procedure codes for outpatient and related hospital encounters, including emergency department, same-day surgery, outpatient clinic, observation, inpatient OB/newborn hospital, and specialty clinic services.
This role follows official coding guidelines and hospital policy, reviews documentation for accuracy, resolves coding issues, and supports compliant billing and reimbursement processes.
The position is remote and offers flexible scheduling across all U.S. time zones.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- Associate degree in a health-related field preferred
- 1 year of outpatient coding experience in an acute care hospital required
- Certification preferred: CCA, CPC, CCS, or RHIT
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, APCs, OPPS, NCCI, and coverage/compliance guidelines
- Ability to maintain 95% accuracy on quality reviews and meet productivity standards
- Experience with physician queries, charge review, and remote independent work
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
