The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate coding, claims submission, payment tracking, insurance verification, and follow-up with patients and healthcare providers.
Essential functions
- Manage the entire billing process, including the preparation, submission, and follow-up of medical claims.
- Use Quadax revenue cycle management software to ensure accurate and efficient billing operations.
- Monitor and resolve billing discrepancies and claim denials.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of billing regulations and insurance guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws related to medical billing.
- Communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to resolve billing issues.
- Prepare and review monthly billing reports.
- Assist in the development and implementation of billing policies and procedures.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a medical laboratory claims coding and billing role.
- Certification in medical billing and coding preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of medical laboratory operations and processes.
Skills and qualifications
- Proficiency in Quadax revenue cycle management software.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and billing regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
