Fast-growing dermatology office in South Austin, Texas seeking a full-time Medical Biller / Insurance A/R Specialist.
Responsibilities include working rejects and denials, sending corrected claims, handling appeals, building and submitting electronic claims, reviewing charts and coding, checking eligibility and benefits, obtaining prior authorizations, contacting patients to verify insurance information, reducing backlog of unpaid claims in legacy systems, reading and analyzing EOBs and ERAs, posting payments, and maintaining HIPAA confidentiality standards for medical and financial information.
The role requires strong customer service, clear communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- 1 year of medical billing experience required
- Certification preferred: CPC, CBCS, or CCA
- Dermatology experience preferred
Knowledge and skills
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD, and LCD guidelines
- Understanding of the medical claims billing cycle, HCFA-1500 forms, HCPCS, and modifiers
- Understanding of insurance plans and basic accounting
- Strong knowledge of government programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and VA
- Strong knowledge of commercial policies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and G Suite
- Excellent problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills and phone manner
- Ability to adapt to changing processes and procedures
