Thrive Proactive Health is hiring a Medical Billing Specialist to join its on-site Revenue Cycle Management team in Virginia Beach, VA.
This role supports the full claims cycle across multiple service lines, including Physical Therapy, Chiropractic, Acupuncture, and Massage. The position is responsible for accurate claims processing, timely follow-up, and supporting a clear financial experience for patients.
The role is on-site only and is not available for remote work.
Requirements & Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
- Verify benefits and eligibility
- Obtain referrals and pre-authorizations as needed
- Submit clean claims and corrected claims
- Track and follow up on unpaid or delayed claims
- Investigate and appeal denials
- Manage A/R aging reports
- Resolve underpayments and discrepancies
- Coordinate collection efforts as needed
- Post payments, adjustments, refunds, and transfers of responsibility accurately
- Assist patients with billing questions
- Set up payment plans
- Manage monthly statements
- Support EDI, EFT, and ERA enrollments
- Assist with payer updates and contract documentation
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and payer regulatory standards
- Ensure billing documentation aligns with required guidelines
Qualifications
- Prior medical billing experience preferred; training provided for the right candidate with strong aptitude
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable working in EHR systems, clearinghouses, payer portals, and spreadsheets
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Clear and professional communication with patients, providers, and insurance companies
