The Accounts Receivable Representative supports the revenue cycle team for the University of Chicago Physicians Group by performing routine physician billing and accounts receivable activities.

This role researches, resolves, and follows up on outstanding accounts to support timely claim processing, accurate cash collection, and reduction of accounts receivable. The position communicates with University and UChicago Medicine departments, patients, payers, and other external entities to obtain the information needed to process claims and resolve account balances.

Key responsibilities include:

Working rejections, no-activity follow-up accounts, registration-related functions, eligibility inquiries, and other AR/account resolution tasks
Resolving claim edits, rejections, complex provider-level adjustments, credit balances, payments, and adjustments
Making insurance follow-up calls to payers to resolve missing remit file issues
Working with IT to resolve EDI file load errors
Communicating with revenue cycle experts about needed medical records and billing or clinical information
Completing daily payment batch reconciliation and updating accounts in the billing system
Maintaining documentation of account activity and assisting with projects and procedure development
Corresponding with internal and external constituencies to obtain documentation needed to resolve accounts
