The Revenue Cycle Billing Specialist is responsible for resolving outstanding A/R for partner practices, including correcting billing errors, refiling claims, appealing denials, and posting payments.
This role focuses on retina-specific billing and coding support within ophthalmology, with an emphasis on accurate claim submission, denial resolution, payment posting, and maintaining strong relationships with practice staff, physicians, vendors, and insurance representatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing claims and accounts receivable to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Identifying, resolving, and resubmitting denied claims in collaboration with insurers.
- Posting and reconciling insurance and patient payments.
- Communicating with patients about balances and payment plans.
- Analyzing revenue cycle performance data and supporting process improvements.
- Maintaining compliance with government and third-party payer regulations.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical A/R follow-up.
- Strong physician billing experience within ophthalmology, specifically retina injections.
- Deep understanding of commercial health insurance and federal/state coverage.
- Billing or coding certification preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with EHR/PM systems and RCM tools such as NextGen, Nextech, Tableau, or Viewgol is a plus.
- Strong communication, customer service, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
