Quad City Gastroenterology is hiring a full-time Billing Specialist to oversee the patient billing process for a surgical/ambulatory care setting.
The role includes submitting patient bills to third-party payers, posting payments, managing rejected and denied claims, contacting insurance companies for outstanding balances, monitoring accounts receivable aging, and helping ensure coding accuracy through coordination with the coding specialist and monthly coding audits.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency
- At least 3 years of experience in medical billing
- Extensive knowledge of claims reimbursement and collection efforts for Managed Care, Medicare, Medicaid, Workers' Compensation, and commercial plans
- Strong knowledge of billing, collections, and claims reimbursement processes
- Familiarity with medical terminology and CPT codes
- Understanding of healthcare policies, including HIPAA
- Strong communication, negotiation, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and with other business office staff
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
