The Medical Billing Specialist will handle claim submission, billing follow-up, and professional communication with families and funding sources. The position requires detail-oriented work, strong healthcare billing knowledge, and the ability to balance professionalism with empathy when addressing billing questions.
Responsibilities include verifying insurance eligibility, coordinating prior authorizations, submitting claims to Medicaid and commercial insurers, following up on rejections and denials, supporting documentation review, communicating with families about billing matters, and maintaining accurate billing records. The role may also require occasional travel to a local satellite office.
High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.
Medical billing experience required, including claim submission and payer follow-up. Experience with electronic medical billing platforms is preferred.
Knowledge of Medicaid and commercial insurance billing processes is required, with familiarity with Ohio Medicaid billing guidelines preferred.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, proficiency with Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Office, high attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to work independently are required.
