New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) is seeking a full-time Monday-Friday Billing Specialist for Accounts Receivable to join its professional billing team. In this role, you will manage assigned insurance payer collections and the full accounts receivable lifecycle, including researching unpaid claims, resolving denials, handling partial payments and over-payments, and communicating with payers, patients, and internal team members.
NECS is a private medical practice of oncologists and hematologists serving Maine from four locations. The organization is nationally recognized for oncology care and is committed to supporting patients with high-quality clinical and administrative services.
The position follows a Monday-Friday schedule with no nights or weekends. Travel is rare.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years of medical billing experience
- Certified Professional Coder preferred
- Certified Professional Biller preferred
- Microsoft Excel experience preferred
- Full knowledge of insurance payers
- ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding knowledge
- Working knowledge of EOBs, EFTs, and ERAs
- Knowledge of insurance appeal processes
- Proficient computer skills
- Ability to work both in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision
