Insurance Specialist

The US Oncology Network

Regional Cancer Care Associates (RCCA) is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Insurance Specialist to support patient care behind the scenes. In this role, you will help ensure accurate billing, timely payments, claim resolution, and exceptional service for patients in an oncology/hematology clinic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor delinquent accounts and perform collection duties
  • Review reports, identify denied claims, research and resolve issues, and resubmit claims to payers
  • Review payment postings for accuracy and ensure account balances are current
  • Work with co-workers to resolve payment and billing errors
  • Update delinquent account status and recommend accounts for collection or write-off
  • Verify referral and/or authorization documentation before examination dates
  • Follow up with physicians for missing or incomplete documentation
  • Contact patients regarding past due balances, verify demographics and insurance information, and document conversations
  • Answer patient questions about payment, billing, and insurance, and resolve complaints
  • Contact third-party payors to resolve issues, expedite claim processing, and maximize reimbursement
  • Maintain credit balances and ensure timely refunds within government guidelines
  • Follow confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines
Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 4 years of combined medical billing and payment experience
  • Knowledge of medical coding, preferably oncology coding
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and third-party claims processing
  • Knowledge of state and federal collections guidelines
  • Ability to complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of hire
