The Billing Representative is responsible for maintaining patient EMR, processing physician orders and discharge summaries, and handling billing information with accurate data entry.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing work queues to ensure NOAs are generated and transmitted timely for Medicare claims and that non-Medicare claims are submitted within filing rules
- Entering patient billing charges and procedure codes in the EMR system
- Updating patient demographics and insurance information as needed
- Sending orders to physicians and tracking returned signed orders
- Sending OASIS to the state and working with clinicians for corrections
- Discharging patients from the EMR and ensuring bills are processed properly
- Investigating billing issues and helping reduce denials and compliance-related problems
- Processing adjustments with authorization from the Billing Manager
- Processing credit card payments
- Filing, copying, mailing, and answering phone calls as needed
- Performing other assigned duties while demonstrating flexibility
Requirements & Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- At least 1 year of billing experience
- Proficiency in Google Workspace applications
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Accurate typing, math, and data entry skills
