The Patient Billing Advocate supports patients by addressing out-of-pocket costs and insurance-related inquiries. This role is responsible for closing the loop on patient inquiries, communicating with patients about self-pay balances, and ensuring a high level of service within the physician billing department.
This position is based in Fountain Valley and is scheduled for day shifts in a hybrid work arrangement.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in patient account billing and collections preferred
- 2 years of payer billing and compliance guideline experience preferred
- General computer skills, including internet use and the ability to learn new applications
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- General knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-9 coding
- Working knowledge of general medical office procedures
- Working knowledge of the legal aspects of patient and insurance collections
- Typing speed of 40 WPM, verifiable
- 10-key by touch proficiency
- Strong listening skills and the ability to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical billing course completion preferred
