Billing Representative

Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center

Under the direct supervision of Billing/Revenue Cycle leadership and with fiscal oversight from the Finance and Accounting Department, the Billing Representative is responsible for the full cycle of processing and maintaining third-party and self-pay billing for Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center. The role supports Medicare, Medi-Cal, private insurance, managed care, and other third-party billing and collections across all providers and facilities.

This position is a key member of the centralized billing team and provides analytical support to help establish and achieve revenue cycle goals and objectives. The role supports claims submission, adjudication, denial management, and follow-up on outstanding receivables. Through standard and ad hoc reporting, the Billing Representative identifies opportunities for process improvement and operational enhancement.

The position works closely with providers, medical assistants, front desk staff, Finance, and IT teams to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and integrity of billing operations.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or Saturday hours.

Requirements & Qualifications

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree in accounting or a related field strongly preferred
  • Completion of coding and billing coursework required
  • Minimum of two years of medical practice billing experience required
  • Front-end medical practice experience and operational understanding preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required
  • Experience with Epic electronic billing and electronic health record systems in an FQHC environment
  • At least one year of accounts receivable experience, including billing, reconciliations, and collections

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills, including data analysis and review of billing procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Intermediate-level Microsoft Excel skills, ten-key by touch, and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret contract language and calculate billing adjustments manually
  • Ability to produce reports and present information clearly and effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with providers, front office teams, billing staff, and leadership
