The Offsite Billing Coordinator is responsible for multiple components of the billing process, including accounts receivable, charge entry, edits, and payment posting. This role supports accurate and timely claim payment and collection across office, inpatient, and outpatient settings.
Responsibilities include:
- Verifying insurance and registration data for scheduled outpatient and inpatient encounters, as well as scheduled surgeries when applicable
- Entering office, inpatient, and outpatient charges with accurate coding and processing charges according to policy and procedure
- Running and working missing charges, edits, denial lists, and appeals; posting denials in IDX in a timely manner
- Posting all payments in IDX using approved methodologies
- Performing specialty coding for services and medical office visits, and reviewing physician coding with updates to physicians and staff
- Working TES, BAR, and eCommerce edits for the division, department, and physicians
- Managing daily accounts receivable work files and reports, checking claim status, resubmitting claims, and writing appeal letters
- Working credit balance reports to ensure adherence to government regulations and guidelines
- Identifying billing issues and providing recommendations for resolution
- Meeting with practice management or physicians to review accounts receivable and billing concerns
- Preparing and verifying office hours schedules when needed
- Collecting time-of-service payments and maintaining daily transaction records
- Working inpatient encounter queues when applicable
- Maintaining current knowledge of third-party payer requirements
Requirements & Qualifications
Requirements include:
- Associate degree or high school diploma/GED plus 2 years of relevant experience
- 2 years of experience in medical billing or health claims
- Experience with IDX billing systems in a health care or insurance environment
- Familiarity with ICD and CPT coding
- CPC preferred
