Johns Hopkins Intrastaff, the internal staffing agency for the Johns Hopkins Health System and partner hospitals, is seeking a Clinical Coding Specialist for a 100% remote role.
This position supports professional fee coding for physician-based encounters, including diagnosis and procedure coding, coding quality assurance, and documentation review to ensure accurate, compliant reimbursement. The role requires residence in one of the approved states and provides department-issued equipment.
Requirements & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor's degree in HIM, Medical Coding, or a related field, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 2 years of medical coding experience
- CPC, CCA, or CCS-P certification
- Strong knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding systems
- Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and professional billing coding guidelines
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer policies
- Experience using coding and revenue cycle systems to review work queues, resolve coding edits, and support accurate claim submission
- Ability to code moderately complex cases involving multiple diagnoses, comorbid conditions, and complex documentation
- Ability to work Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5:00pm
- Permanent residence in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware, Washington, D.C., or Florida
