Requirements & Qualifications

Responsibilities

Analyze relevant clinical and demographic information from the health information record and assign appropriate ICD-10 codes in compliance with CMS, state, and other regulatory agencies.
Complete documentation analysis, abstracting, and code assignment using ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, ASC, UHDDS, HCFA, and hospital abstracting guidelines.
Perform queries and obtain documentation required for coding.
Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and federal regulations.
Answer customer calls.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of the revenue cycle.

Qualifications

One of the following certifications is required: CCA, CDIP, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or CPC-A.
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, coding applications, disease processes, and etiology.
Experience with Windows, Excel, hospital information systems, and encoders.
