BayCare Health System is seeking an Advanced Inpatient Coding Specialist for a full-time remote role supporting inpatient medical records coding.
This position focuses on analyzing complex multi-day, multi-specialty inpatient documentation and assigning accurate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS. The role also involves physician query development, monitoring bill hold reports, and partnering with Clinical Documentation Specialists and the Quality Department to support accurate DRG assignment and PSI/HAC review.
The role includes mentoring and training other coding team members and students.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required
- RHIT preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree in Health Information Technology preferred
- 5 years of acute care experience required
- 3 years of inpatient coding experience required
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, pathophysiology, and pharmacology
- Ability to work with complex inpatient documentation and physician queries
