This role screens services for Medicare and Medicaid patients to ensure compliance with CMS guidelines, determine coverage and eligibility, and provide beneficiary notification when services may not be covered. The position also serves as a reference for internal and external customers.
Estimated pay range: $20.02 - $25.43 per hour, depending on experience.
- High school diploma, certificate, GED, training, or equivalent experience
- Completion of an accredited Certified Coding Specialist program, or an Associate Degree in Health Information Management Science with 2 years of outpatient coding experience
- CPC or CCS preferred
- Thorough working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD-CM coding systems, CPT, and prospective payment systems (DRGs)
- Competency in computer applications and medical necessity verification systems
- Ability to communicate effectively with external customers
- Bilingual skills highly preferred
- Minimum required experience: 1 year
