Join OHSU’s Enterprise Coding Department as a Level III Professional Fee Coder supporting multispecialty surgery coding in a telecommuting environment.
You will review clinical documentation, assign accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes, maintain billing workflows, and help ensure compliance with CMS, payer, federal, state, and internal guidelines across multiple surgical specialties including General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Dental, GI, and Trauma.
This role also collaborates with coding leadership, providers, and peers to improve documentation quality, support education, and enhance operational efficiency.
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 4 years of experience coding hospital or professional services using ICD-10-CM and CPT
- Active coding certification through AAPC, AHIMA, or equivalent credential
- Active membership in AAPC or AHIMA
- Successful completion of an internal coding skills assessment
Preferred
- Multispecialty surgery professional fee coding experience
- Completion of an accredited coding program or coding boot camp
- Knowledge of PFS, OPPS, CPT, ICD-10 guidelines, CCI edits, and NCD/LCD policies
- Experience with Epic and 3M Encoder
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Coursework in anatomy & physiology, medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10-CM coding
