This position reports to the Supervisor of Billing and is responsible for reviewing documentation and assigning appropriate diagnoses and procedures for professional or clinic services using ICD-10, while also completing day-to-day administrative tasks. Accurate coding helps ensure claims are properly coded and reimbursed for professional and facility services.
Responsibilities include reviewing and interpreting patient medical record documentation, assigning ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and APC codes accurately and timely, maintaining quality and productivity standards, staying current on coding requirements, reviewing authorizations and pre-billed claims as needed, and supporting data integrity and billing initiatives.
Required credentials:
- CCS or CPC
- RHIA or RHIT
Education and experience:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Equivalent experience accepted
- 1 to 3 years of coding experience, including outpatient or specialty coding
