Capital Health is seeking a Billing Specialist for its Radiation Oncology/Hopewell team to support accurate charge capture, billing, insurance authorization, and documentation workflows within a hospital-based oncology setting.
- Reviews, updates, corrects, and approves daily case charges in the billing system.
- Enters medical, hospital, and facility charges and ensures accurate electronic submission.
- Verifies charges for supplies, rooms, and other medical expenditures for proper reimbursement.
- Assists with insurance pre-authorizations and follows up on pending authorizations.
- Tracks pre-authorizations and treatment codes for compliance with the treatment plan.
- Coordinates peer-to-peer authorization processes when denials occur.
- Enters base prices and special charge-posting codes as needed.
- Collaborates with physicians, nurses, Medical Records, Compliance, Finance, and Patient Account teams to resolve billing issues.
- Tracks medical records requests and overdue records to support claim completion and revenue integrity.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of medical insurance, prior authorization, billing, or coding experience.
- Previous hospital billing experience preferred.
- Intermediate billing experience and familiarity with insurance terminology.
- Basic understanding of ICD-9 and CPT coding classifications preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work with insurance companies, physicians, and cross-functional teams.
